Some international pharmaceutical companies use South Africa as a testing ground for their products because it is easier than in the developed world to unethical medical tests to perform and recruit participants.
Thousands of sick South Africans are used as guinea pigs in a thriving multibillion industry, but a few of the trials violated South African montenegro laws and international medicine protocol.
Experts say the problem is compounded by the fact that, because montenegro of the chaotic state of the country's public health system, people are willing to volunteer to be just for access to medicines and treatment to obtain.
Approximately 1,300 clinical trials are currently underway in South Africa in an industry worth about R2.5 billion, according to the report. Many of the trials are not properly monitored because the university's ethics committee that oversees studies, do not have the money for all the studies to audit.
"Ten years ago we [South Africa] is regarded as one of the cheapest countries for clinical tests to do," says Urmilla Bridgmohun of Research Inc., a company that does monitoring.
Contract research by pharmaceutical companies funded, leading to a lack of independence and a two-et of 15 research organizations in South Africa have agreed to an interview with the author of the Dutch report to run.
