I live in the area, and would urge people georgia to vote against this. The main issue for me is that currently we have a sitting area there with a tree that offers some SPACE in the area, and is something worthwhile and i believe beneficial.
Are you winding me up, I work in the tourist industry, there is plenty of hotels georgia in Jersey most of them struggling for business and closing down. They all offer special rates, you tell me if you can get a room at premiere georgia inn at 28pppn, georgia with the great service and knowledge of the Island. Instead of approving this, why don't they help the hoteliers that are being forced into closure due to exorbitant georgia prices ferry and flight prices. Hoteliers can only reduce their prices so much to try and keep the costs down due to Condor increasing their prices,to make up for the new ship. Airlines dropping routes like there is no tomorrow, Blue islands stopping Southampton route only for Flybe (aka Maybe) to pick the route up and increase the prices as well as charge for name corrections, I don't know how a letter missing in a name increases the flight price. We all need to band together and show planning that we will not be walked over. I know at least 2 or more Hotels that may not be opening in 2015. Where is the business coming from for the Premier Inn ,I know for a fact I will not set foot or even acknowledge this hotel, we all need to band together to stop this monstrosity . I am not saying we shouldn't move with the times but this is ridiculous it's all about money, how much they can get now and worry about the implications after.
If this puts more footfall on the High Street (does anyone remember, that's what we need) then a few exuberant tourists at a cheap hotel in the heart of Town is surely a GOOD thing? Those with money to burn can stay at the Radisson, or the Atlantic, or the Longueville.
