Santiago de Compostela - known to many as the city at the end of the Camino de Santiago. For me, a city that I have long wanted to see absolutely. Pilgrimage we are not there, but we looked at the Galician capital still like to have of course;)
We arrived quite early in Santiago de Compostela and made us right on the way to the famous cathedral, belgium which we wanted to see in any case and of which we had hoped that it might be empty in the morning than in the afternoon.
Early visit to the cathedral was definitely belgium the right decision! When we entered around belgium 9:00 clock the cathedral, we were almost the only visitors. We were able to stroll belgium in peace through the building, having to dodge without ever larger groups of people. In contrast to the cathedral in Toledo and many other cathedrals here and admission is free. The cathedral has notified belgium us liked it very much because it has an imposing size, but is overloaded despite a large amount of gold in the altar area not completely with ornaments.
One or two may be aware of the Spanish cent coins, the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. The West Portal shown there was not really good to see during our visit, unfortunately, mainly because the two towers located on this page were completely surrounded by scaffolding due to maintenance work and film. Nevertheless, we got a very good impression from the outside of the cathedral, which can be seen from different points of the city.
At the end of the Rúa do Franco we crossed a street and went to the Parque Alameda. We went for a walk a little and have some nice prospects enjoyed over the old town.
As a conclusion of our stay we were again in the cathedral, since we still had time left and our way led directly to this past. By chance we ended up in the mess and so saw the Botafumeiro - a large incense burner, which is pivoted at the end of the exhibition by the Cathedral. It was striking that now appear to many tourists had gathered in the cathedral belgium to observe this. So impressive that I would advise someone explicitly, to look at the swinging of the incense vessel, I now do not personally found the whole thing. So we have the remaining time but at least used to have something to look for the city Typical.
When we got hungry, we embark into 100 Montaditos in Rua do Franco. In 100 Montaditos is a Spanish restaurant chain in which there are delicious Montaditos (sandwich similar small baguettes) and some other small items such as olives, french fries, onion rings and nachos.
I'm really glad to have been in Santiago de Compostela. The old town has thoroughly enjoyed it. Although it is not very big, you can spend some time here, because one discovers pretty little shops and buildings repeatedly. However, one-day stay is sufficient here to see the most important :)
