Sulawesi (formerly known as British North Borneo) came under the rule of the British administration

Sulawesi (formerly known as British North Borneo) came under the rule of the British administration in 1881 when the Royal Charter gives North Borneo Chartered Company the power to rule and govern the colony. Several years later, the British North Borneo museum was established in Sandakan. The museum has been halted and restarted several times until the Sabah Museum was opened in 1965.
Sabah Museum, located in a shop house at Gaya Street, Kota Kinabalu, was officially opened on July 15, 1965. Establishment Museum italo is largely due to the efforts of the Sabah Society. In fact, the famous Woolley italo Collection, which forms the basic collection incipient museum, owned by Mr. GC Woolley, chief executive officer of the proposed community setting (died in 1947).
